list every place the hotel may use the content. each channel carries different value and should be priced on purpose.
Specify: organic social, website and email, paid social advertising, third-party booking platforms and OTAs, print and collateral, out-of-home. anything not listed is not granted.
the period the hotel may use the content before rights expire or renew.
Common defaults: 12 months for paid advertising, longer or perpetual for organic and website use, priced accordingly. perpetual, unlimited rights are the most expensive grant, not the default.
the geographic scope of the license.
Specify: single market, region, or worldwide. worldwide paid usage is a premium over local organic use.
if the hotel wants exclusivity in its category or region, that restricts your future income and should be paid for separately.
Specify: non-exclusive by default; category or regional exclusivity as a paid add-on with its own term.
delivering unedited originals hands over far more than finished, color-graded assets.
Common default: edited deliverables only. raw file transfer is a premium and often declined.
whether the hotel may transfer or sublicense the content to third parties, such as tourism boards, OTAs, or partner brands.
Common default: no sublicensing without a separate agreement and fee.
whether the content may be used to train AI models or be altered to generate synthetic media. increasingly important, and increasingly valuable to withhold.
Recommended default: no. protect your art. no AI training or synthetic alteration without explicit, separately negotiated permission.
whether the creator also posts the content to their own audience. this is influencing, a separate service from licensing.
Specify: posting is optional and priced separately from the license. a license does not require a post, and a post does not grant a license.
the operational terms that make commercial work reliable and safe for a brand to run.
Include: pre-agreed creative direction, model and property releases, documented usage rights, review and approval steps, turnaround time, and organized asset delivery.
the reasoning, the scripts, and the argument for always using a written agreement, from the person who helped define the category.
